The Central American Armed Forces Conference (CFAC) is a specialized international body of military nature. It was created by the Presidents of El Salvador, Guatemala,Honduras and Nicaragua on November 12, 1997, and Dominican Republic joined in 2007. Its mission is to promote a permanent and systematic effort of cooperation, coordination and mutual support among the Armed Forces for the professional study of shared issues and provide a high level of defence against threats to democracy, peace and freedom. To contribute to security, as well as to the military development and integration in the region, in order to conduct humanitarian and peacekeeping operations.
Observer countries are: Argentina, Belize, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, France, Germany, Russia, Spain, Taiwan, United Kingdom and United States.
