Prime Minister Juri Ratas has presented all Estonian general education and vocational schools with a flag of the European Union on the occasion of the beginning of the new schoolyear.
"Estonia is the presidency of the Council of the European Union for the first time, and to mark this historic occasion Prime Minister Juri Ratas presented every general education school and vocational education establishment in Estonia with a flag of the European Union," the prime minister's press service said.
"The blue flag reminds of our belonging to Europe. Our common realm of values has helped Estonian pupils raise to the top of Europe for the level of their knowledge," Ratas said. "It is as important to move forward with the happiness and satisfaction of pupils. Respecting each other and taking account of those around us is an inseparable part of the European realm of values."
Ratas expressed the wish that the flying flag will remind us how important it is to notice the people next to us and our next of kin. Happy and balanced people are the biggest asset of Estonia and all of Europe, he added.
