Ryan Blaney’s main focus — as it should be — is on the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs and surviving the first elimination race, Sunday’s Apache Warrior 400 at Dover International Speedway.
But the XFINITY Series race at Dover was important too, and Blaney cruised to victory in the Use Your Melon. Drive Sober 200 on Saturday, as JR Motorsports driver Justin Allgaier took second.
After finishing first, Blaney physically took the checkered flag, pointed to a young (Kyle Larson) fan in the crowd and motioned for him to come take the flag from the Team Penske driver. Blaney passed the flag through the fence to the little boy for a random act of kindness that probably made this kid’s day.
